Georgia at a Crossroads: Is Tbilisi losing its strategic compass? Seminar in Oslo, Norway

Tbilisi seems to be losing its strategic compass and the very foundations of its foreign policy? This question was raised at the seminar – Georgia at a Crossroads: Is Tbilisi loosing its strategic compass?, held in Oslo, Norway. by the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI).
At this GEOPATH seminar, as the invited speakers, Prof. Kornely Kakachia (Georgian Institute of Politics) and Dr. Ketevan Bolkvadze (Lund University) examined Georgia’s weakening resilience to Russian threats, the risks of decoupling from the Associated Trio, and other geopolitical challenges.
At the seminar participants also explored the domestic political dynamics that currently exacerbate tensions between Tbilisi and its Western partners. Polarization between parties and democratic backsliding have continued to disrupt Georgia’s path towards Europeanization. This event examined possible solutions to these challenges as well as the prospects for the parties to implement EU’s reform recommendations.
