On May 27, 2022, the Georgian Institute of Politics (GIP) hosted a Youth Democracy Forum titled “Why Not Ask Them: The Untapped Potential of Youth in Georgia.”
The young people invited to the forum, together with the decision-makers, civil society representatives, politicians, field experts, activists, and representatives of the public and private sectors jointly discussed the challenges that young people face in Georgia in various different areas. The participants also offered possible ways of solving youth-related issues in Georgia.
The Forum participants presented the research findings of and four policy documents that focused on the following thematic areas:
- The role of Youth in Foreign Policy
- Youth Participation in the Local Self-government
- The Women’s Political Participation
- The Youth Unemployment
The four Thematic Working Groups developed the policy documents under the framework of the project “Promoting Youth Transformational Leaders in Georgia.”
The group members explored in-depth on one specific topic, studied the current situation in Georgia And possible ways to solve the problems. After presenting the policy documents, the event concluded with the panel discussion where invited experts and youth discussed the overarching topic of the forum.
