The First Session of the GEO4EU Capacity Building Training

On November 21-22, the Georgian Institute of Politics (GIP), in collaboration with Institut für Europäische Politik e.V. (IEP), facilitated the first session of the GEO4EU Capacity Building Training series for Georgian civil society representatives in Tbilisi. This event is the first of a three-part training series to support Georgia’s democratic transformation and promote civil society engagement in the EU integration process.

The first session emphasized the importance of aligning with European values, understanding EU benchmarks, and using practical tools to monitor Georgia’s democratization processes. The experts – Vano Chkhikvadze (Civil Society Foundation) and Professor Dr. Adam Łazowski (University of Westminster), delivered presentations and led interactive workshops.

The GEO4EU training series continues with two additional sessions scheduled for December. The second session will focus on “Effective Monitoring: Shadow Reports, Best Practices, and Other Formats,” while the third will address “Effective advocacy: whom to address on which issues; how to adjust messages and formats; successes – and what to avoid.”

Supported by Germany’s Federal Foreign Office, the GEO4EU project emphasizes how crucial it is to give civil society actors the resources and expertise they need to support Georgia’s EU integration initiatives actively.

The event is organized with Institut für Europäische Politik (IEP) e.V. in Berlin in the framework of the project “Georgian Civil Society for EU Integration GEO4EU”, supported by the Federal Foreign Office through the Civil Society Cooperation Programme for the Eastern Partnership countries and Russia.
