Between 27-31 May 2024, four outstanding participants of the “Public Policy Analysis Course” at the Georgian Institute of Politics (GIP) were sent to the Summer School of the Brussels School of Governance (BSoG). The participation of the students from Georgia in the Summer School was negotiated by the GIP with the BSoG and was carried out under the auspices of the “Public Policy Pilot Initiatives to Engage and Mentor Youth” project. This project is, in turn, implemented by GIP with the generous support of the USAID National Governance Program.
The four students selected to go to the Summer School were chosen from among 27 who participated in the “Public Policy Analysis Course” based on their performance in the three-month-long course, and through an evaluation of their first drafts of the policy briefs, which addressed specific issues connected to public policy analysis and research.
The participants of the Summer School of the Brussels School of Governance (BSoG) were:
- Anano Arveladze, BA student at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University
- Ana Chubinidze, BA graduate of the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University
- Shio Jashi, BA student at International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University – ISET
- Victoria Arakelyan, BA student at International Black Sea University
The BSoG Summer School saw participants discuss and share best practices for EU policy analysis and planning. The school included sessions about writing policy documents, the actors and processes that shape the foreign policy of the EU, the domestic and international strategic ambitions of the EU, and other relevant topics. Participants also received valuable feedback from EU experts on the policy briefs they developed under the “Public Policy Analysis Course,” and had an opportunity to visit the European Parliament and learn more about how the institutions of the EU work. At the end of the course, participants were awarded with the certificates.
